American Business Network (“ABN,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you share with us through our Member Portal, including our website, member dashboard, founder showcase, events system, and related services (collectively, the “Portal”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
By creating an account, applying as a Founder, registering for an event, or otherwise using the Portal, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
This Privacy Policy applies to the American Business Network Member Portal at americanbusinessnetwork.net. Our corporate website at americanbusinessnetwork.com is a separate property and may be governed by its own privacy policy.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly
- Account and registration information: name, email address, phone number, chapter affiliation, and login credentials.
- Founder application information: company name, job title, business details, funding stage, funding ask, revenue, pitch deck files, Google Drive links, headshot and company logo images, LinkedIn and website URLs, and any other information submitted through the Founder Application form.
- Event registration information: name, email, and any details submitted when RSVPing to an event.
- Support and contact information: name, email, phone number, and the content of any message submitted through our Contact Us or Support form.
- Communications: information you provide when you contact us directly, including for support requests.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data: pages visited, features used (such as which resources you download or which announcements you’ve read), and general activity within the Portal.
- Device and log data: IP address, browser type, device type, and access times, collected automatically by our hosting and security infrastructure.
- Cookies: small data files used to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, and support core site functionality. See Section 6 below.
We do not knowingly collect payment card information directly; any such processing is handled by a third-party payment processor where applicable.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your Member or Founder account
- Operate the Member Directory and Founder Showcase
- Process and review Founder applications, including communicating approval or rejection decisions
- Register you for events, issue e-tickets, and manage event check-in
- Send administrative emails, including account setup, password reset, and welcome communications
- Deliver announcements and updates relevant to your membership or chapter
- Provide access to the Resource Library and track which resources are available to you
- Respond to support requests submitted through our Contact Us form
- Maintain the security, integrity, and proper functioning of the Portal
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in the following circumstances:
- Within the Portal: certain profile information (such as your name, chapter, and — for Founders — your business details, pitch materials, and contact information) is visible to other logged-in Members as part of the Member Directory and Founder Showcase, consistent with the purpose of connecting members, investors, and founders.
- Service providers: we use third-party providers for hosting, email delivery, and related infrastructure. These providers process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
- Legal requirements: we may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of ABN, our members, or others.
- Business transfers: if ABN is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, member information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Policy or a policy at least as protective.
4. Data Storage and Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, alteration, or disclosure. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Founder application materials (including pitch decks and financial details) are only visible to logged-in Members and Administrators, not to the general public or logged-out visitors.
5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
The Portal uses cookies to:
- Keep you logged in between visits
- Remember whether you’ve read certain announcements
- Support core functionality such as event registration and forms
You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings; however, doing so may affect your ability to use certain features of the Portal, including staying logged in.
6. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information (most account information can be updated directly through My Account)
- Delete your account and associated personal information, subject to any legal retention requirements
- Object to or restrict certain uses of your information

7. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Portal’s services. If you close your account, we may retain certain information as required for legal, accounting, security, or fraud-prevention purposes.
8. Children’s Privacy
The Portal is intended for business professionals and is not directed at, nor knowingly used by, individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
9. Third-Party Links and Services
The Portal may contain links to third-party services, including Google Calendar, Outlook/Microsoft 365, Google Drive, and LinkedIn, for purposes such as adding events to your calendar or accessing shared files. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third-party services. We encourage you to review their respective privacy policies.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be indicated by updating the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Portal after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
